Description

Our vision is to promote acceptance, inclusion and well-being for people with intellectual disabilities through sports. Knowledge and/or coaching experience in the sport you are interested in coaching is preferred. Key Responsibilities:


• Assist Head Coach create, organize and conduct a comprehensive sports training program


• Assist Head Coach with sports training and competition


• Train athletes during scheduled practice times as well as accompany team to competitions


• Create and maintain a positive and fun environment for all athletes


• Teach all athletes the rules of the sport and sportsmanship


• Responsible for abiding by the Coaches Code of Conduct


• Limited leadership responsibilities. Can fulfill Head Coach position on a limited basis as needed



Upon successful completion, you will be recognized as a cleared Team Volunteer. To qualify as a coach, you are required to attend an in-person coaching training session specific to your sport. This training is mandatory and must be renewed online every three years.



Commitment:


• This position requires one weekday or weekend (approximately 2-3 hours) for practice during an 8 (minimum) to 12 (maximum) week season


• This position requires 2-3 weekends for athlete competitions during the season



Sports offered by (program name):

Spring (Mar-June) - basketball, bocce
Summer (June-Aug) - bowling
Fall (Aug-Nov) - golf, soccer, softball
