Thank you for taking the time to complete the volunteer clearance process in order to volunteer with Special Olympics Southern California. We appreciate your time and dedication to our athletes. Click on the REGISTER button (top right or bottom right) to complete the process. 

GOAL/IMPACT 

Special Olympics Southern California’s (SOSC) vision is to promote acceptance, inclusion, and well-being for people with intellectual disabilities through sports. Special Olympics is the world’s largest sports organization for people with intellectual disabilities: with 4.4 million athletes in 170 countries. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assist with all aspects of events/campaigns including planning, execution, and follow-up
  • Procure in-kind goods and services
  • Manage event supplies, fulfill sponsor benefits, attend events
  • Assist with other LETR duties as needed

TRAINING & SUPPORT 

  • Supervision from Manager, Law Enforcement Torch Run with weekly meetings and goal setting
  • Orientation of SOSC history and protocols

COMMITMENT & WORK SITE 

  • This internship is year-round with a minimum of a 3-month commitment. Attendance at Fundraising events within the timeframe is required. 
  • 6-12 hours/week at Headquarters Office – 1600 Forbes Way, Suite 200, Long Beach CA 90810

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS 

  • Strong organizational people skills with superb customer service skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook plus ability to learn new programs
  • Event planning experience is preferred, but not required
  • Must complete a volunteer application, required training, and background check
