Social Media Assistant
Description
Work with the Special Olympics Southern California team to maintain our social media presence across our entire footprint. Assist with the creation of social media posts based on social media promotion calendar; produce videos; write articles; respond to and interact with the Special Olympics Southern California audience through social media channels; attend events and provide live social media coverage.
This position can be performed in-person or remotely
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the creation of social media posts based on social media promotion calendar
- Contribute to the creation of social media content by crafting effective post copy, selecting appropriate media (images and videos), and generating creative ideas in alignment with Special Olympics Southern California's objectives.
- Write engaging articles for wearesosc.org, effectively communicating the mission and stories of Special Olympics Southern California.
- Conduct interviews, both in-person and virtually via Zoom, to gather content that highlights the organization's impact and achievements.
- Utilize Canva to create visually appealing content, including short animations, infographics, and videos.
- Attend events in-person and engage in real-time social media coverage. Share updates, photos, and videos to showcase Special Olympics Southern California's activities and create an immediate connection with our audience.
- Produce/create/find imagery to use on social channels
- Write articles to use on social channels
- Short video creation via Canva and other social media applications
- Respond to and interact with the Special Olympics Southern California audience through social media channels
- Copywriting for written articles and emails
- Interviewing: online and in-person
- Attend events and provide live social media coverage
Training & Support
- Hands-on training for each task, i.e. how to use social media, graphics software, etc.
- Receive basic overview on telling the SOSC story
Commitment
- Minimum of 10 hours per week; worksite is remote, unless attending a local event
- Minimum six month commitment required.
- Local travel may be required
- Must have own computer with reliable access to the internet video recording capabilities and ability to run Adobe programs. SOSC will provide software needed.
