Our Goal & Impact
Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC) is dedicated to promoting acceptance, inclusion, and well-being for people with intellectual disabilities through the power of sports. As part of the world’s largest sports organization for people with intellectual disabilities—4.4 million athletes strong across 170 countries—our athletes build confidence, skills, and success both on the field and in life.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help manage and grow the @LETR4SOSC Instagram account.
- Create and post fun, engaging content that highlights LETR events, athletes, fundraisers, and volunteer efforts.
- Share photos, videos, reels, and stories from events throughout the year.
- Respond to comments and messages and help keep our followers engaged.
- Work with LETR volunteers and staff to collect content and share updates from around the regions.
- Help promote upcoming events, fundraising campaigns, and athlete stories.
- Keep the Instagram page active, positive, and aligned with the mission of Special Olympics Southern California.
- Use creativity to come up with new ways to increase engagement and reach more supporters.
- Assist with simple graphics, captions, and hashtags when needed.
- Be a digital ambassador for LETR and help tell the incredible stories of our athletes, volunteers, and law enforcement supporters.
TRAINING & SUPPORT
- Receive direct supervision and mentorship from the LETR Liaison and Development Administrator
- Initial meeting to discuss direction and vision
- Bi-monthly check-ins for progress tracking and goal setting
- Orientation and onboarding covering SOSC history, mission, and language protocols
COMMITMENT & WORK SITE
- Internship runs year-round with a minimum 6-month commitment
- Requires Flexible – Remote work approximately 3-5 hours per week, with additional opportunities on day-of major events and fundraising campaigns.
Attendance at select fundraising events during the internship term is required
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
- Enjoys social media and creating content.
- Comfortable using Instagram (posts, stories, reels, etc.).
- Organized, dependable, and responsive.
- Passionate about Special Olympics and the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
