The Lane Supervisor plays a key leadership role in ensuring smooth operations during bowling competitions. This volunteer is responsible for overseeing multiple lane monitors, ensuring all lanes run efficiently, addressing any issues that arise, and serving as the primary point of contact for lane monitors when support is needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and support a group of Lane Monitors (5-6 lanes) throughout the competition.
Serve as the first point of contact for any lane-level issues, including scoring errors, athlete discrepancies, or equipment concerns.
Act as the liaison between the lane monitor and the front desk/venue staff.
Ensure Lane Monitors are actively engaging with athletes, maintaining a safe and orderly lane environment, and following all competition protocols.
Monitor the flow of competition across assigned lanes to ensure all athletes are accounted for, properly rotating, and adhering to schedule.
Troubleshoot problems such as lane reset issues, missing or incorrect athlete names, and rule clarifications.
Collect and confirm athlete scores after each game, ensuring accuracy before submitting.
Promote a positive and encouraging environment for athletes, volunteers, and families.
Qualifications:
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to stay calm under pressure and make quick, informed decisions.
Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities is a plus.
Must be comfortable providing direction to others and enforcing rules politely but firmly.
