Collaborate with Venue Manager on Layout and Athletes  Oversee timeliness of heats and organize athletes by announcing heats.

REPORTS TO: Swimming Venue Manager.

Responsibilities: 

Announce names of athletes receiving medals according to Special Olympics Awards script. Collaborate with Awards Manager and Awards Ceremony Assistants, and Awards Ceremony Director. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Outgoing. Organized. Ability to coordinate volunteers, athletes, families for meaningful awards experience. People-person.

TRAINING: Must attend training at 8:30am on event day.

Responsibilities: 

Assigned to one of 3 basketball courts. Basketball assistants keep score, keep time, and assist teams on their designated court. Assist Venue Manager with any other duties.

QUALIFICATIONS: People person. Self-starter. Ability to work with a team. Some lifting may be required to move water jugs.

TRAINING: Must attend on-site training at 8:30am on event day.

REPORTS TO: Basketball Venue Manager.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for organizing, sorting, recording and distributing awards.

QUALIFICATIONS: Attention to detail, organized, ability to work well under pressure, good people skills.

REPORTS TO: Awards Venue Manager.

Responsibilities:

Assist athletes from staging area to pool.  Coordinate with bullpen on getting athletes ready and staged.Assist coaches with any needs

QUALIFICATIONS: Organized, ability to work with others. Working with those who have disabilities will help significantly but not required.

Help us wrap up the Spring Games event! As an Event Breakdown Volunteer, you'll be part of the team that ensures everything is organized, packed up, and ready for delivery to storage.

Responsibilities: 

Assist in execution of Shot Put Competition. Assistants are assigned to: athlete check-in, measurer, retriever.

QUALIFICATIONS: Willingness to work in heat, sun or other weather conditions.

TRAINING: Must attend on-site training at 8:30am on event day.

REPORTS TO: Shot Put Venue Manager

Responsibilities: 

Assistants are assigned to the following roles: checking in athletes, staging them in heats to wait for their races, or escorting them to the start line. Great opportunity to work one-on-one with athletes.

QUALIFICATIONS: Active position. Should be able to work under pressure.

TRAINING: Must attend on-site training at 8:30am on event day.

REPORTS TO: Bullpen Manager

Responsibilities: 

Receive athletes race times, record them, and send them to Awards. Work in collaboration with Start Line Coordinator to manage races.

QUALIFICATIONS: Active position in the sun. Organized.

TRAINING: Must attend on-site training at 8:30am on event day.

REPORTS TO: Finish Line Coordinator 

Responsibilities: 

Work as part of a team to time races. Great way to interact with athletes and experience to joy of victory in every race. Must be willing to work in the heat, sun, or other weather conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in using stop watch. Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.

TRAINING: Must attend on-site training at 8:30am on event day.

REPORTS TO: Finish Line Coordinator

Responsibilities:

Help with giving Starting Line & Finish line Coordinators a break and take over responsibilities along with assisting any other Track needs 

Starting Line Responsibilities:

Manage start of races. Work in collaboration with Bullpen Manager and Bullpen Race Managers to receive athletes. Oversee all volunteers assigned to Start Line.

Finish line Responsibilities:

Assist with managing all volunteers assigned to roles at the Finish Line. Work in collaboration with Start Line Coordinator to run races.

 QUALIFICATIONS: Active position Work well under pressure; Ability to manage a large group of volunteer; Ability to troubleshoot effectively. General understanding of competition rules.

Manage all volunteers assigned to roles at the Finish Line: Race Timers and Finish Line Recorder. Work in collaboration with Start Line Coordinator to manage races.

TRAINING: MUST ATTEND mandatory training prior to event day.

REPORTS TO: Athletics Competition Director. Works in collaboration with Start Line Coordinator.

Manage start of races. Work in collaboration with Bullpen to receive athletes. Oversee all volunteers assigned to Start Line and Track Runners.

Check in volunteers as they arrive at event. You are the first person volunteers meet upon arrival. Must be friendly and accommodating.

Assist Event Announcer in identifying athletes in races.

Announce the days events including Opening Ceremony and Track & Field. Oversee volunteers assigned as Announcer Assistant. Collaborates with Track and Bullpen Managers.

Responsibilities: 

Collaborate with Event Director and Competition Directors to place rental order. Organize and oversee facility setup the day before event. Oversee all facility operations on event day.

Assist Start Line Coordinator in preparing athletes for races. Run Heat Sheets from Start Line to Finish Line at start of each race. Must be willing to work in the heat, sun, or other weather conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to run up to 100 yards several times during the day.

TRAINING: Must attend on-site training at 8:30am on event day.

Responsibilities: 

The safety of the athletes is of the utmost importance. Track Security monitors the gate access to the track so that no one interferes with race finishes by crossing the track at the wrong time.

QUALIFICATIONS: Friendly, but also able to effectively manage the entrance/exit to/from the track so as not to put anyone at risk of injury or race disqualification.

REPORTS TO: Finish Line Coordinator.

Responsibilities: 

Start the races! Whistle or hand gesture depending on the need of the athletes.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience as Starter. Recommended: experience working with individuals with disabilities. Must be familiar with Special Olympics rules of competition for Athletics.

TRAINING: Must attend on-site training at 8:30am on event day.

REPORTS TO: Start Line Coordinator. Works in collaboration with Finish Line Coordinator.

Responsibilities: 

Position available to high school students recommended by teacher and/or coach. Stationed at the finish line to assist athletes after races getting from track to the awards staging area.

REQUIRED: Attendance at event from 8:00am-3:00pm

TRAINING: Must complete online training and attend in-person training at 8:30am on event day.

REPORTS TO: Finish Line Coordinator

Responsibilities: 

Food prep and service for lunch Assist in food delivery to teams. Clean up following lunch service.

QUALIFICATIONS: Some lifting. On your feet.

TRAINING: Provided on-site

Assist Parking Manager in managing vehicle parking in lot. Assist guests in unloading athletes and equipment. Oversee all facility operations on event day.

QUALIFICATIONS: Heavy-lifting may be involved.

TRAINING: On-site training provided on event day.

REPORTS TO: Parking Manager

Responsibilities: 

The ultimate "teamwork" position - many things need to be set up prior to competition, which requires many working hands. Join the team and enjoy coffee and donuts upon arrival! Assist in the set up of the venue prior to competition. Set up includes: EZ ups, throwing tablecloths, Awards stages, setting up competition equipment, and more. There is a role for everyone!

QUALIFICATIONS: Morning person! Heavy lifting may be required.

REPORTS TO: Event Director and Track and Field Events Managers

 

Responsibilities: 

The ultimate "teamwork" position - many things need to be set up prior to competition, which requires many working hands. Join the team and enjoy coffee and donuts upon arrival! Assist in the set up of the venue prior to competition. Set up includes: Hanging signs, arranging drop-off areas for athletes and people with accessibility needs, unloading equipment and supplies, and more!

QUALIFICATIONS: Morning person! Heavy lifting may be required.
